Synopsis

The experience takes place in Chandrawathi’s, a young prostitute’s, room in the early morning just before the sun rise. A married taxi driver after spending the night with her is about to leave now. He wants to pay her and finish the business before the sun rises. The problem arises when Chandrawathi says that she truly slept with him and finds now that she has some affection towards him and that affection developed from the way the man expressed himself with her physically and emotionally; the things he said and did and the way they interacted. She says she had never before experienced the tenderness of his manner. The man says that nevertheless he was simply playing a role in that moment and that he has no feeling at all for her now, he could now even spit on her face where he had kissed it before. She does not believe this. As this conflict becomes more complex the man panics and tries to run away but Chandrawathi locks the door and puts the key in her mouth. Then there is a tense struggle physically and emotionally and at one point he tries to kill her but finds he cannot do that. The man sees the sun coming through the window ; however by this time he is exhausted, frustrated and collapses, blaming himself for coming here, telling her his story about his miserable family life, his job and everything that he is going to lose for what has just done. He sobs. Then there is a great silence. Chandrawathi gives him the key. He is shocked. He kisses her forehead softly. He leaves her reluctantly in a contemplative mood. Chandrawathi goes up to the window and looks outside in a contemplative manner. Will he come back?
